Xinhua, January 27, 2017 Adjust font size:

Vitesse beat Dutch Cup holders Feyenoord 2-0 in Arnhem on Thursday to qualify for the last four of the "KNVB Beker."

Guram Kashia headed in the opening goal from a corner by Adnane Tighadouini in the 55th minute and from a rebound Tighadouini tipped in the second home goal six minutes later. With Dirk Kuyt as substitute, who was left on the bench at the start by coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Feyenoord were not able to bounce back from that deficit.

The Dutch league leaders from Rotterdam are now out of contention to grab the Dutch 'double.' In the Eredivisie they currently are five points ahead of number two Ajax after 19 of the 34 match rounds.

Vitesse followed Sparta Rotterdam, AZ and second division side SC Cambuur to the semifinals. Sparta beat FC Volendam after penalties on Tuesday, while AZ defeated sc Heerenveen 1-0 on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Cambuur surprised FC Utrecht by taking the decisive penalties more effectively than the Eredivisie side. Endit
