Senior Burundian army officer shot dead by soldier

A senior Burundian army officer was shot dead Wednesday night by a soldier in a military barrack in Cankuzo province, the Burundian army spokesman confirmed Thursday.

Colonel Gaspard Baratuza said Major Dieudonne Karashira was killed when patrolling the Mutukura military barrack.

He was shot dead by a soldier who did not abide by the halt protocol, the spokesman said, adding that the soldier has been arrested for further investigations. Endit
