Considering the high level pollution in the country, Macedonian Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning proposed Wednesday several anti-pollution measures to improve the situation, local media reported.
The ministry reportedly is planning to cut by 50 percent the use of official vehicles by state and local institutions.
Macedonian Environment Minister Bashkim Ameti held a meeting Wednesday with representatives of civil society organizations to discuss issues related to air quality and specific and applicable measures against pollution that would yield tangible results in the short term.
Pollution still remains a concern in Macedonia, given that over 1,300 deaths every year come as a result of the diseases caused by pollution, according to a study released days ago.
According to the National Public Health Institute of Macedonia, the Macedonian capital of Skopje was one of the most polluted cities if measured by the concentration of fine particulate matter PM 2.5. Endit
