Macedonia, Malta establish diplomatic ties

SKOPJE, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -­- Macedonia and Malta have established diplomatic ties following intensive political and diplomatic contacts last year, the Macedonian foreign ministry confirmed Wednesday.

Macedonia said such relations were important given that Malta was an EU member currently holding the presidency of Council of the European Union (EU) and Macedonia aspires to accede to the EU.

Macedonia has established diplomatic ties with over 170 states, according to the Macedonian foreign ministry. Endit
