Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Wednesday called on public workers to adapt to the e-governance system his government has adopted.
Lungu said he wanted the electronic system to become part of his government's legacy.
In remarks delivered when he swore-in National Coordinator for the Center of Excellence for e-Governance and Information Communication Technology (ICT) Martine Mtonga at State House, the Zambian leader said the public service was lagging behind in some aspects and tasked the new coordinator to move the system towards electronic governance.
Last October, Lungu launched the e-government division which is under his office.
The move was aimed at improving coordination, implementation of ICT projects as well as ensuring that services required by citizens and other stakeholders from government are automated.
The move was also meant to reduce corrupt activities as there will be minimal human contact. Endit
