-- The African National Congress (ANC) will not only win the 2019 elections but will take it with an even greater margin than before, President Jacob Zuma said on Sunday.

"The ANC is on the side of the people and God is on the side of the ANC. We cannot lose," Zuma said in Burgersfort, Limpopo at the provincial celebrations of the party's 105th year anniversary. (News24)

-- The Competition Commission has granted the South African Petroleum Industry Association (SAPIA) another exemption from a section of the Competition Act, a government gazette has revealed.

The body applied for a five-year extension of the exemption, but has only been exempt until the end of 2017. (Fin24)

-- The National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa (NUMSA) has shot down speculation that the union could bury the hatchet with the ANC and return to the alliance if a "unifying leader" were elected to succeed President Jacob Zuma at the party's national elective conference later this year.

"Our view is that the ANC succession process is not guided by a revolutionary agenda," union general secretary Irvin Jim said in an interview. (City Press) Endit
