Tokyo shares tumble on growing concerns following Trump's inauguration speech

Tokyo shares tumbled Monday on growing market concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump's stance on free trade signaled in his inauguration speech.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 246.88 points, or 1.29 percent, from Friday at 18,891.03.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 18.83 points, or 1.23 percent, lower at 1,514.63.
Decliners were led by insurance, real estate and transportation equipment issues.
The day's turnover was about 2,200.5 billion yen (around 19.35 billion U.S. dollars). Endit
