Saudi seeks UK training to enhance domestic employment

Saudi Arabia will send 120 local engineers to UK for training to enhance their employment chances, Okaz local newspaper reported on Friday.

Hundred of them will be enrolled in English courses, while 50 will take part in practical engineering skills. The training is part of many initiatives to make Saudi jobseekers the first choice for employers, especially in the private sector.

The Saudi Authority for Engineers will also launch a programme to grant privileges to companies that recruit local engineers, including providing them for free after recruiting one engineer a software of 20 programmes, each programme costs 7,998 U.S dollar. The authority will also pay the vocational insurance of newly recruit Saudis.

According to a report on Al Eqtisadiya news portal, there were 230943 engineers in Saudi Arabia at the end of 2015, of which 92 percent of them were foreigners, only 18046 were Saudis. Endit
