Xinhua, January 19, 2017 Adjust font size:

A planned deployment of a multinational NATO battle group in Latvia will be completed by June 2017, Latvia's new Chief of Defense Leonids Kalnins told reporters on Wednesday.

The battalion unit will include more than 1,000 soldiers from six countries, with Canada leading the battle group as its framework nation.

Small contingents of the NATO battalion are expected to arrive in Latvia in late winter and spring, to prepare for the arrival of the whole battalion, Kalnins said. Endit
