Belarus GDP fell by 2.6 pct in 2016

Belarusian GDP declined by 2.6 percent in 2016, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus said on Wednesday.

The volume of industrial production decreased by 0.4 percent, while the volume of agricultural production increased by 3.4 percent.

Investments in fixed assets decreased by 17.9 percent in 2016 compared with 2015. Retail trade turnover decreased by 4.1 percent, and wholesale dropped by 10.4 percent.

In 2015 Belarus' GDP fell by 3.9 percent after 1.6 percent rising in 2014.

The IMF predicted a 3 percent decline in Belarus' GDP in 2016 and by 0.5 percent in 2017. Endit
