45 illegal immigrants arrested in Zambian capital

Zambia's Immigration Department said Wednesday that it had arrested at least 45 illegal immigrants in Lusaka, the country's capital.

Namati Nshinka, the department's spokesperson said the illegal immigrants were arrested after an operation conducted in four townships of the city last Friday and Saturday.

Of the 45 illegal immigrants nabbed, 20 are Zimbabweans, 13 Somalians, four Rwandans, six Tanzanians and two Burundians, he added.

The immigration department also arrested two Zambians who were obstructing immigration officers in the execution of their duties, he said in a statement. Endit
