Singapore Chinese Cultural Center (SCCC) and Singapore Press Holdings'(SPH) Chinese Media Group (CMG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Monday to develop and boost Chinese cultural scene in the city state.

The partnership will enable Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of SPH, to organize a series of cultural activities at SCCC under the banner of Zaobao Cultural and Creative Space.

According to the MOU, both parties will make the best use of their resources to increase public awareness and participation of these cultural activities at SCCC. Lianhe Zaobao will plan, organize and publicize the activities; while SCCC will provide the venue and on-site arrangements for the events.

CEO of SCCC Choo Thiam Siew noted that this collaboration with SPH CMG is a step forward in SCCC's work, and SCCC will progressively establish strategic partnerships with other organizations and groups for promotion and development of Chinese culture at various levels.

"We look forward to the launch of Zaobao Cultural and Creative Space where a conducive environment and appealing atmosphere will be developed for our readers to experience top-notch cultural events," said Lee Huay Leng, Head of CMG, SPH.

At least 12 events will be organized every year as part of Zaobao Cultural and Creative Space, and the first event will be held on Feb. 25.

The series of activities include "Talks on Lifestyle and Aesthetics" which is about promoting quality of living through cultural appreciation, "Creators' Laboratory" that showcases Singapore's unique cultural designs and creativity, and "Up-Close with the Masters" which offers opportunities for interaction with masters in the cultural and creative fields.
