S. African stocks up as commodity shares gain

Soaring gold mining shares and rising resource stocks led gains on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) on Monday, seeing the All Share close 0.69 percent higher.

The South Africa rand was trading at R13.63 to the U.S. dollar, R16.41 to the British pound and R14.44 to the euro.

Gold climbed 0.49 percent to sell at 1203 U.S. dollars an ounce.

On the top 10 gainers list, The Foschini Group rose 5.29 percent to sell at R168.5 after 3,162,470 shares were exchanged in 5,025 deals.

Sibanye Gold (SGL) was also on the list, its shares climbed to R28.2 after 3,558 deals traded 6,362,753 shares, a boost in the share price of 5.26 percent.

Choppies Enterprises was amongst the biggest movers downwards, as shares slid 4.09 percent to R3.05 after investors bought and sold 178,709 shares in 11 deals.

After 20 deals exchanged a total of 165,416 shares, Finbond Group fell 4 percent to R2.4. Endit
