Over 300,000 voters registered for Macao's legislative election

Macao has 307,020 registered voters by the end of 2016, who will vote in the election of its sixth Legislative Assembly in September, the special administrative region's voter registration book said on Monday.

The last edition of voter registration book, issued by Macao's Public Administration and Civil Services Bureau, published the voter list and will receive public examination and error report for a period of 10 days.

The book listed 307,020 voters, up 7.35 percent compared with the end of 2015. All legitimate voters can participate in the legislative election in September.

Under Macao's law on voter registration, only permanent residents of Macao aged 18 and above have the right to vote.

The fifth Legislative Assembly of Macao is composed of 33 seats including 14 directly-elected seats, 12 indirectly-elected seats, and seven others appointed by the SAR's chief executive. Endit
