Vietnam tops Southeast Asian Vovinam Championship

Vietnam ranked first at the 2017 Southeast Asian Vovinam Championship which concluded in Cambodia on Sunday.

Vietnam bagged home 12 golds, 13 silvers and 1 bronze at the regional martial art championship, which featured more than 100 athletes and coaches from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand, according to the Vietnam Vovinam Federation.

Cambodia ranked the second with 9 golds, 7 silvers and 10 bronzes, followed by Laos with 4 golds, 3 silvers and 14 bronzes.

Vietnam will propose UNESCO to recognize Vovinam, a world-famous Vietnamese martial art, as the world's intangible cultural heritage, Le Hai Binh, deputy general secretary of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation, said recently. Endit
