A senior Chinese official urged all judicial and law enforcement agencies to improve their capabilities to ensure a safe and stable social environment for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to be held this year.

Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a central conference on political and legal work held on Thursday and Friday.

Meng asked the agencies to improve their political alertness and capabilities of prediction and early warning.

Judicial and law enforcement agencies should detect hidden dangers and risks and employ effective measures, to protect national political security, especially the security of the regime and system, Meng said.

He also called on the agencies to strive to raise the credibility of the judicial system, to make the public feel safer and more satisfied. Endi
