Gun battle kills 8 militants in E. Afghanistan

A total of eight Taliban militants have been killed and six others injured as government forces launched operations in Pachiragam district of the eastern Nangarhar province Wednesday night, an army spokesman said Thursday.

The official, who declined to be identified, also added that the operations would continue until the militants are wiped out from the area.

Meanwhile, another official from 201 Silab Army Corps in the eastern region of Afghanistan said seven militants loyal to the Taliban outfit had been killed in Tagab district of Kapisa province over the past two days.

Taliban militants are yet to make comment on the situation. Enditem
