The following are news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Sunday.

-- Electoral commission says it plans to compile biometric information of all voters such as fingerprints to use as back-up in case of technology failure during the August polls.

The stand is likely to soften the Opposition Cord which has called for mass protests following the passage of a Bill in parliament and the senate by ruling party Jubilee legislators allowing the use of manual system in case of technology failure. Cord is against manual system noting it will perpetuate electoral fraud. (Sunday Nation)

-- President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned politicians against mudslinging and violence as the country prepares for the polls. Kenyatta called for peace and unity. (Standard on Sunday)

-- Fresh crisis looms in Kenya's labour sector as university workers insist they would go on strike starting Monday following the collapse of talks between them and the government.
