Inflation in Ukraine eases to three-year low in 2016

Xinhua, January 7, 2017 Adjust font size:

Ukraine's annual inflation slowed down to 12.4 percent last year, the lowest level since 2013, when the crisis has started in the East European country, the State Statistics Service said on Friday.

The last year's inflation eased from 43.3 percent in 2015 and 24.9 percent in 2014, the statistical agency said in a statement.

The inflation rate has almost met the 12-percent targeted level set by the government for 2016, the statement said.

The 47.2-percent increase in utility prices was the main driver of the inflation last year, it said.

For 2017, the government has estimated that the inflation will further fall to about 8 percent. Endit
