Luis Suarez dreams of return to Uruguayan club

Xinhua, January 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Barcelona and Uruguay international striker Luis Suarez on Thursday revealed a desire to return to his original club Nacional before he retires.

The 29-year-old played just 27 matches for the Montevideo side before joining Dutch outfit Groningen while still a teenager.

"I dreamed of success with Nacional but my time there went by so quickly," Suarez told Uruguay's El Espectador radio station.

Suarez said he is motivated by the prospect of playing in the Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition.

"My goal was always to play at Barcelona. But I regret not being able to do more at Nacional. Playing in the Copa Libertadores is something that I wanted to do more of, but I'll have time for that later."

Suarez has scored 68 goals in 77 matches for Barcelona since his 82 million-euro move from Liverpool in 2014. In December, he renewed his contract with the Catalan club until June 2021. Endit
