An explosion rocked the Yangon-Sittway highway in Myanmar's Rakhine state on Monday but left no casualties, the State Counselor Office's Information Committee said in a statement.

According to examination of the scene by local securities, the explosion was caused by a plastic bag packed with mines connected with batteries and wires in Ponenakyun town.

Hand grenades were also discovered at the scene, the statement said.

An investigation into the blast was underway. Endit
