Belarus external debt totals 13.5 billion U.S. dollars

Belarus external debt amounted to 13.5 billion U.S. dollars, Belarusian Finance Ministry said on Friday.

The external debt of Belarus on Dec. 1 stood at 13.5 billion dollars, increasing by 1.7 billion dollars, or 8.6 percent, from the beginning of the year, the ministry said.

In 2016, Belarus has attracted 1.76 billion dollars as public external borrowings. The main creditors were Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund, the government and banks of the Russian Federation, China's banks and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Repayment of external debt amounted to 778.2 million dollars since the beginning of 2016.

Internal public debt amounted to 10.1 billion rubles (about 5.1 billion U.S. dollars) as of Dec. 1, the data showed. Endit
