Turkish Airlines calls off 250 flights due to bad weather

Xinhua, December 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Turkish Airlines has called off more than 250 flights, including those to European cities, scheduled for Friday and Saturday due to inclement weather conditions across Istanbul.

"Some journeys from Istanbul Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports are canceled due to the meteorological conditions which include snowfall, icing and strong breeze," the airlines said in a statement on its website.

The most affected are flights to such European cities as Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, Brussels, Milan, Amsterdam, Geneva, Budapest, Skopje, Belgrade, Zagreb, Varna, Sofia and Tirana.

A power blackout was reported in more than a dozen of Istanbul's districts on Thursday, as strong winds had torn off roofs, toppled cranes and led to suspended ferry services across the city. Endit
