Tokyo shares edge up in morning on output data

Tokyo shares closed slightly higher by break Wednesday morning on strong U.S. stocks overnight as well as the rise of Japanese industrial output in November.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 6.28 points, or 0.03 percent, from Tuesday to 19,409.34.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.92 point, or 0.06 percent, to 1,537.14.

Gainers were led by iron and steel, nonferrous metal and marine transportation issues. Endit
