The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund of Namibia said Tuesday that 65 people had died in road accidents that occurred between Nov. 22 and Dec. 26 this year.

The figure, however, represented a decrease from 80 in the corresponding period last year, the fund said in a statement.

The statement also said 741 people were injured in 398 crashes during the period this year.

So far this year, 662 people have died in road accidents in Namibia, while 6,619 sustained injuries.

The fund, the police and various companies have been educating road users on safety during the festive season. Endit
