Xinhua, December 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Turkish supply ship ran aground off Kos island in the Aegean Sea on Monday, with no reported injuries, but Greek Coast Guard speedboats were still unable to reach it because of rough seas, according to an official release on Tuesday.

The Turkish vessel, named Alcatras, was sailing from Tuzla in Turkey to the Southern Turkish port of Antalya, carrying technical equipment, the captain told the Greek authorities.

He reported a steering gear malfunction, assuring that the five-member crew was in fine health, according to the Greek Coast Guard press release.

No environmental damage has been caused so far, the Greek authorities said. Endit
