Singapore stocks close 0.51 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 14.71 points or 0.51 percent to close at 2,885.76.

A total of 601.1 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 363.5 million Singapore dollars (251 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 188 to 174, while 741 others finished unchanged.

The STI lost 10.99 points or 0.38 percent to close at 2,871.05 on Friday. The market was closed Monday because of public holiday for Christmas. Endit
