The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Tuesday:

--The Labour Court has confirmed electricity utility Eskom's 2013/14 final offer of 5.6% by upholding the arbitrator's award to Eskom and dismissing the unions' application for review.

During the negotiations, Eskom made its final offer across the board, and a range of related increases and benefits to the employees in the bargaining unit for the financial years 2013 and 2014.(Fin24).

--The Presidency has confirmed that Tuesday, December 27, will indeed be a public holiday, after South Africans inquired if it was true.

Presidency spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga said the decision was informed by the fact that, this year, workers in the country would only have 11 public holidays, instead of 12, because December 25, Christmas Day, fell on a Sunday.(News24).

--The South African Prisoners Organization for Human Rights (SAPOHR) has condemned the incident at the St Albans Prison in Nelson Mandela Bay.
