7 Vietnamese proposed death penalties for sale of 5,000 heroin cakes

After several days of trial, People's Procuracy in Vietnam's northern Quang Ninh province on Tuesday proposed death penalties to seven people for sale of 5,000 heroin cakes.

According to Quang Ninh People's Procuracy, some 120 km east of capital Hanoi, among 25 members in the drug trafficking ring, Hoang Van Tien, born in 1986, head of the ring, and six others, who were a important link of the ring, faced death penalties.

Meanwhile, other six defendants were proposed life sentences, including Tran Thu Hang, born in 1978, Tien's wife, reported the state-run news agency VNA.

In addition, as many as 12 others were proposed with imprisonment sentences of 2 to 20 years.

It is expected that the second phase of the first instance trial will conclude on Friday. Enditem
