One-China principle always upheld in handling Taiwan's external exchanges: spokesperson

Xinhua, December 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese mainland has always adhered to the one-China principle when dealing with Taiwan's external exchanges, a spokesperson said Monday.

An Fengshan, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks when asked to comment on the resumption of China-Sao Tome and Principe diplomatic relations Monday, following the African country's announcement on Dec. 21 to cut "diplomatic ties" with Taiwan.

"Any attempt to create 'two Chinas' or 'one China, one Taiwan' is doomed to failure. The historical trend is irresistible," An said. Endi
