Malta sees improved employment in Q3

Malta's employment in the third quarter of 2016 increased by 2.3 percent over the same period of last year, according to Labour Force Survey estimates published by Malta's National Statistics Office on Friday.

The data show that total employment stood at 193,893, which is more than half of the country's population aged above 15.

On average, full-timers work 41.5 hours a week while part-timers work 22.5 hours a week.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate stood at 4.8 percent, with the largest share of unemployed registered in the population aged above 25.

Among the unemployed, 43.5 percent have been jobless for at least a year. Endit
