Belarus declares 2017 Year of Science

Belarus has declared 2017 the Year of science, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko has signed the corresponding decree, the press-service of the Belarusian leader said on Friday.

This decree aims to promote the role of science in the social and economic development of the country, create favorable conditions for the preservation and development of the scientific potential, enhance the international image of Belarus as the country with a high level of intellectual and human capital, the press-service said.

The decree sets the task to organize a number of activities to increase the role of science in the implementation of social and economic development of the country, create favorable conditions for the preservation and development of scientific potential, form the international image of Belarus as a country with a high level of intellectual and human capital.

The implementation of this plan will help develop Belarusian scientific schools, university and industry-specialized science to ensure sustainable economic growth in Belarus, multiply the country's scientific potential, support talented young scientists and specialists, promote their patriotic education.
