Hezbollah hails victory in Aleppo

Xinhua, December 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah described Friday the battle in Syria's Aleppo as one of the "harshest combats the region has seen in years."

Addressing thousands of Hezbollah university students, Nasrallah said in a televised speech that Aleppo's battle is "a victory for the anti-terrorism front."

Though, this does not mean the end of the conflict, he added, but rather that the scheme that was seeking to oust the regime has ended.

However, he assured that the Syrian government's victory in Aleppo could pave way for a political settlement to the conflict, saying that he believed this could lead to the end of the conflict in Syria through political means.

He also mentioned the Lebanese political developments, assuring that there exists no hurdle in the way of the Lebanese cabinet's policy statement.

He emphasized that the government must shoulder its full responsibilities towards the people at all level, he said.

Nasrallah also refused allegations that this government is controlled by Hezbollah. Endit
