Russian ski chief defends suspended athletes

Xinhua, December 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian Cross-Country Ski Federation (CCSFR) President Yelena Vaelbe said on Friday that Russian athletes suspended by the International Ski Federation (FIS) are innocent.

Earlier in the day, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) opened disciplinary proceedings against 28 Russian athletes allegedly implicated in the manipulation of urine samples collected at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Following the IOC decision the FIS decided to suspend six Russian athletes from international competitions.

"I am sure and I know that my athletes had not taken any medications," Vaelbe told R-Sport. Endit
