Zambian parliament approves 2017 budget

The Zambian parliament has approved the 2017 budget after intense debates, state broadcaster reported Thursday.

The 6.5-billion-U.S.-dollars budget unveiled by Finance Minister Felix Mutati on November 11, was approved on Wednesday night, according to the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.

The finance minister said the important task that lies ahead was to ensure its implementation in line with the government's plans to ensure sustained economic growth and development.

The minister said the success of the budget would depend on revenue inflow and promised that the ministry would ensure timely collection of revenue. Endit
