Iran and Armenia on Wednesday signed five memorandums of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in tourism, museum, sports, emergencies and border security, official IRNA news agency reported.

The documents were signed on the sidelines of a meeting of the presidents of two countries in Armenia's capital of Yerevan.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday started his tour to three Caucasian and central Asian states, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

A high-ranking political and economic delegation is accompanying Rouhani to discuss ways of improving mutual relations.

Ties with the three countries are highly important to Iran in the light of mutually-beneficial economic potentials, Rouhani said upon his departure. Endit
