Nigerian gov't to pay whistle blowers in fight against corruption

Xinhua, December 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Nigerian government on Wednesday approved a policy aimed at strengthening the ongoing anti-corruption campaign by encouraging whistle blowing.

Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun told reporters in Abuja the policy was considered at the weekly cabinet meeting presided over by the Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari.

According to her, the government has approved payment of as much as 5 percent of recovered loot to any successful whistle blower.

The policy will be supported by a legislative bill to ensure adequate measures be taken to protect lives and identities of whistle blowers, the official added. Endit
