France calls on EU to review ties with DR Congo

France on Tuesday called on the European Union (EU)to review its ties with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), according to a statement form the French Foreign Ministry.

"The seriousness of the situation justifies the re-examination by the EU of its relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo,"the Quai d'Orsay said.

Expressing concerns over violence reported in Kinshasa and Lubumbash, "France calls on the Congolese (DR Congo)authorities and security forces to act with due respect for human rights," said the statement. Endit
