Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was killed in a gunman attack at an art exhibition on Monday in the Turkish capital of Ankara, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry has declared the attack a terrorist act, and Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the murder of the diplomat. (Russia-Turkey-Ambassador)

ABUJA -- Two suspected female suicide bombers blew up themselves while attempting to invade Maiduguri, capital of Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, to cause havoc, local police said Monday.

BERLIN -- A lorry ploughed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Berlin on Monday night, killing nine people and injuring 50 others, Berlin police have announced.

QUITO -- A 5.7-magnitude earthquake in northern Ecuador left two people dead and injured another 15 on Monday, as it caused substantial material damage.
