State Council appoints, removes officials

The State Council, China's cabinet, has announced the appointment and removal of several officials, according to a circular issued Friday.

Fu Xingguo was appointed vice minister of human resources and social security and head of State Administration of Civil Service.

Yang Yudong was named vice minister of transport and head of the National Railway Administration.

Zheng Guoguang was named head of China Earthquake Administration (CEA), replacing Chen Jianmin.

Liu Yaming was named head of China Meteorological Administration to replace Zheng Guoguang. Dou Xiankang was appointed president of Wuhan University.

Liu Yaming will no longer hold the post of vice minister of water resources and Chen Jiusong will no longer hold the post of vice head of State Bureau of Letters and Calls.

Sun Zhaohua was removed from the post of vice head of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and Xiu Jigang was removed from the post of vice head of CEA. Endi
