French shares advance 1.05 pct Thursday

French stocks gained on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 index rising 1.05 percent to close at a one-year high of 4,819.23 points.

The strong euro zone growth continued in December as the region posted its best quarterly performance for the current year, according to the latest PMI Flash data.

Banking shares led Thursday's charge. BNP Paribas gained 5.3 percent. Credit Agricole rose by 3.8 percent.

Airbus gained 2.7 percent. AccorHotels increased by 3.5 percent.

Electricity producer EDF plunged by 12.7 percent. Klepierre lost 1.9 percent. ArcelorMittal fell 1.6 percent and Carrefour went down by 1.1 percent. Endit
