Xi congratulates Moldova's Dodon on his election as president

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of congratulations to Moldova's Igor Dodon on his election as president of the southeastern European country.

In the message dated on Wednesday, Xi offered warm congratulations and best wishes to Dodon on behalf of the Chinese government and people and in his own name.

Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Moldova ties and stands ready to work with Dodon to lift the bilateral relations of friendly cooperation to a higher level, so as to benefit the two countries and peoples.

Dodon defeated his rival in the presidential runoff on Tuesday, and he will be sworn in on Dec. 23. Endi
