Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Chinese national was found dead at his residence in Bangladesh's Jessore district, 164 southwest of capital Dhaka, on Thursday morning.

The 45-year old Chinese national, Cheng Hesong was killed overnight in his residence.

Elius Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jessore's Kotowali Police Station, confirmed the nationality of the victim to Xinhua on Thursday shortly after recovering his body on receipt of information.

He said the deceased Chinese man was an official of Chinese company which has been selling batteries in Jessore area.

"Most likely he was beaten first and then strangulated to death for stealing his money," Hossaid said.

Hossain said two local staff of the company were detained in this connection. Endit
