Priority to protect Aleppo civilian population, distribute aid: Polish Ministry

Xinhua, December 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

The priority in Aleppo is to protect the civilian population and ensure access to humanitarian aid, the Polish Foreign Ministry said Wednesday, the Polish Press Agency reported.

"In light of recent events, Poland upholds its position that the conflict in Syria can only be ended through talks leading to a political agreement between the opposition and the authorities in Damascus," the ministry wrote.

"Therefore, we appeal to all international partners to undertake firm action with the aim of returning as soon as possible to a political process involving all the sides of the conflict," it added.

Under its program of humanitarian support for Syrian refugees in the region in 2016, Poland has assigned 46 million PLN(11.08 million U.S. dollars) in aid for Syrians. Enditem
