Tokyo shares close flat ahead of U.S. Fed meeting outcome

Tokyo shares closed flat Wednesday ahead of the outcome of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting due later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 3.09 points, or 0.02 percent, from Tuesday at 19,253.61.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.56 points, or 0.10 percent, lower at 1,538.69.

Gainers were led by rubber product, and information and communication issues, while decliners were led by oil and coal product, and real estate issues.

The day's turnover was around 2,544.8 billion yen (22.08 billion U.S. dollars). Endit
