Vietnam's cement consumption rises in past 11 months

Xinhua, December 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Vietnam's total cement consumption reached 68.46 million tons in the first 11 months of 2016, up 6 percent year-on-year, accounting for 90 percent of the yearly target.

According to Vietnam's Ministry of Construction on Wednesday, from January to November, the country exported 13.97 million tons of cement, down 6 percent year-on-year.

In November alone, the domestic market consumed some 5.91 million tons of cement, 400,000 tons higher than that in October thanks to the kicking off of new construction works and favorable weather conditions for construction, local Vietnam Economic Times quoted the ministry as saying.

It is forecast that in 2016, Vietnam's cement consumption will hit 75-77 million tons, up 3.26-6 percent year-on-year. Among the figures, a total of 59-60 million tons of cement will be sold domestically, up 4.5-6.3 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the rest of 16-17 million tons will be shipped abroad, staying the same as in 2015, said the ministry. Endit
