Moroccan king cancels trip to Zambia

Xinhua, December 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

King Mohammed VI of Morocco has canceled his scheduled visit to Zambia, the country's foreign affairs ministry said on Tuesday.

The Moroccan king was scheduled to visit Zambia on a two-day state visit starting on December 17, 2016.

But according to a brief statement released by Zambia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit has been postponed to next year. It did not specify reasons for the cancellation.

Last week, President Edgar Lungu expressed confidence that the relationship between the two countries will grow stronger after the visit by the king.

Lungu said this when he received letters of credence from Moroccan Ambassador to Zambia Saadiael Alaqui that the two countries had enjoyed cordial relations based on strong bonds of friendship, respect and bilateral cooperation. Endit
