7 injured, 2 trapped in Ukraine's residential building collapse

Xinhua, December 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least seven people were injured and two others remain trapped under debris after a residential building collapsed on Monday in northern Ukraine, authorities said.

Part of the four-storey building came down at around 4:20 p.m. local time (GMT 14:20) in Chernigov city following a blast in an apartment on the top floor, the State Service for Emergencies said in a statement.

According to the preliminary data, the explosion, which triggered no fire, could have been caused by a gas leak.

About 100 rescuers are working at the site to release the trapped people.

All those injured have been hospitalized and their condition remains unknown. Endit
