Senior officials from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies on Friday reached a consensus on plan, theme and priorities for APEC Vietnam 2017, announced Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Son made the remark at a press conference held in Vietnam's capital Hanoi after APEC's Informal Senior Officials Meeting (ISOM) concluded on the same day.

The official told reporters that during the ISOM, participants focused their discussions on implementing agreements reached by the involved parties in Peru, host country for APEC 2016, defining the theme and priorities for APEC 2017 as well as plans for APEC 2017 in Vietnam, set to be hosted in the country next year.

The theme of APEC 2017 was proposed as "Creating new driving force for a common future" with priorities concentrating on economic growth, regional integration, agriculture, food, innovation and small-scale enterprises.

According to Son, Vietnam has prepared for hosting the APEC 2017 since 2013, when it was given the task at the summit in Indonesia.

In 2006, the country first hosted APEC. Endit
