Mainland respects HK chief executive's decision not run for re-election: spokesperson

The Chinese mainland respects the decision by Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying to not run in the next election in 2017, a mainland spokesperson said Friday.

"We express our deep regret that Leung has decided to not pursue another term due to family reasons, and we respect his decision," the spokesperson for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council said. Endi
